Since inception in 2000, WOUGNET has hosted its
websites and mailing lists with Kabissa, A
network of African civil society organisations.
However, effective April 30th 2009, Kabissa is
changing. They are streamlining their Internet
services to focus on being a trusted Domain
Registrar for organizations in the Kabissa
network. This means that they will continue to
register and help manage domain names (e.g.
wougnet.org) for their member organizations, but
will no longer offer website and email hosting services.

Therefore, just like other Kabissa members in
Uganda and around Africa, WOUGNET must find an
alternative host for our email, website and
mailing lists. We have found a new partner and
are in the process of migration. WOUGNET is also
using this as an opportunity for two major
changes. The first change involves hosting the
WOUGNET websites in Uganda which should improve
the surfing experience for those in Uganda. The
second is to enhance the information sharing and
networking via WOUGNET mailing lists using
web-technology and a web 2.0 approach. A phased
approach will be used to implement these changes
in order to minimize the downtime of WOUGNET
services as well as to give opportunity for input
and feedback by WOUGNET members, subscribers and partners.

While we expect this transition to go on as
smoothly as possible with little or no
interruption of our services to you, we apologize
for any disruptions you might experience in
accessing our email, websites (www.wougnet.org
and www.kic.wougnet.org) or mailing lists after
April 30th when we switch to the new hosting service.

For further information or for queries, please
contact techsupport [at] wougnet [dot] org. In case the
wougnet.org addresses are not accessible, our
alternate contacts are milton [dot] ug [at] gmail [dot] com,
ssozi [dot] javie [at] gmail [dot] com and dorothy [dot] okello [at] gmail [dot] com.

= April 2009: Update your machine automatically
http://www.wougnet.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=category&se...

If you use Windows Operation System, keeping your
machine updated with the latest Microsoft patches
and bug fixes can be considered an essential
task. Windows is considered unnecessarily complex
and full of security holes and flaws. Also, the
fact is that the world works with Windows,
meaning that all those hackers out there are
targeting Windows simply because of its
popularity, not because it is any less inherently
secure than alternative operating systems.
