Warmest greetings from the Civil Society Watch programme at CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation.

CIVICUS is in the process of undertaking a study on the challenges faced by women in civil society in Africa. This study has three main components: 1) desk research at the CIVICUS office; 2) face-to-face interviews with civil society groups in Uganda, Egypt and Zimbabwe; and 3) distribution of a questionnaire developed at CIVICUS to key women civil society groups preferably in all 53 countries of Africa.

As for the questionnaire, CIVICUS prepared the questions and are looking to disseminate them as widely as possible and therefore requested us (CECORE) to send to women organizations we are in contact with. On their behalf, we request that you:

(i) Fill out the attached questionnaire regarding the work that your organization engages in and the challenges that you and/or partners in the field face while carrying out your work; and

(ii) Disseminate the attached questionnaire to as many women civil society organizations and/or individuals in Africa that you are in contact with.

CIVICUS are hoping to receive the questionnaires back from all of the women civil society groups/individuals by the end of the month (July). They do understand that this email is a little late forthcoming, to which they offer their sincere apologies. If it is not possible to complete the questionnaire by the end of July, they will welcome your comments and inputs in August. Preferably, it would be best if the questionnaire was emailed back directly to them (at caroline [dot] lai [at] civicus [dot] org) with the responses filled in, but if that is not possible, submission by post would also be okay at:
