remote intern
http://www.wougnet.org/cms/content/view/550/1/

An intern is one who works in a temporary position with an emphasis
on the job training rather than merely employment. "Being a remote
intern had never occurred to me. I did not know that such a "thing"
existed, being trained and mentored online using a number of tools.
When CTA offered me this opportunity, I was so eager to find out what
"remote" internship entails. I must say that, six months into the
internship, I have no regrets at all. The benefits are overwhelming
and opportunities keep increasing". Read more about Maureen Agena
WOUGNET information Officer's experience as CTA's first remote intern.

For those of you using Microsoft Windows and are either using pirated
versions or paying high license fees, a move to Free and Open Source

daunting task, therefore to make the transition easier, I'd recommend

The Citizen Journalism in Africa project (CJA) was a three-year
initiative funded by both Hivos and the EU. Hivos was working with
SANGONet (South Africa) on this project. The aim of the project was
to increase civil society organisations' use of and interaction with
various forms of media. This would help them maximise their
communication strategies and reach. It was hoped that this will
strengthen the organisations' use of media and increase quality
information dissemination capacity using multiple platforms.

= ACFODE attends Women in Politics Conference
http://www.wougnet.org/cms/content/view/539/1/

Action for Development (ACFODE) was privileged to attend the Women in
Politics Conference at Speke Resort Munyonyo. ACFODE is celebrating
its Slver Jubilee this year and one of its core areas is Advocacy for
Women's Effective Participation in Politics and Decision Making.

In her address, Her Excellency Ellen Johnson Sirleaf congratulated
Uganda for the progress on women's issues and cautions all of us as
the general elections draw near. She mentioned the dire state at
which Liberia was when she was elected and marked a positive
contribution for the years ahead. In an interesting twist, we learnt
that Her Excellency suffered a lot of rigging during the electoral
process of Liberia at the time and even had to change parties. Her
resilience paid off.
