Each year, International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated worldwide on March 8. In honor of this important date, the CICC Secretariat will issue a press release, reflect the event and related members' endeavors on its website and publications, as well as circulate any relevant materials produced by its Members to its mailing lists.

I would greatly appreciate learning more about your plans for 8 March, and invite you to inform the Regional Coordinator and Outreach Liaison for your region of any events you are organizing throughout March to mark the gender justice achievements of women or any calls you are making for the full implementation of the Statute's robust protections for women.

Please share with us the photos and/or press coverage of your events on the IWD. We can also include a link to your website on ours.

In 2009, many of you organized rallies, workshops and press briefings. We hope that in 2010 you will again join us in highlighting the urgency of the Court's work to end impunity for crimes against women by organizing activities this year. The ICC has come into force and it is a powerful instrument for protecting women's rights. Thanks to the work of women around the world, violence and persecution of women will be treated as the serious criminal and humanitarian law violations that they are.

We look forward to collaborating with you to ensure that women's rights are affirmed as human rights in letter, spirit and action.
